A Bad Whiff at the Press & Its “Truth”

Letter to Ephesians: Holman Jenkins gives scathing reminder that today’s fake MSM was fake during the Cold War too, only those earlier “journalists” pretended to be faking reports to “advance national interests” while today’s fakers do so to suck up to an anti-Trump crowd.

The WSJ columnist in his “The Press vs the Truth, Cold War Edition” recounts the supposedly “most trusted names” at such new orgs as NYT, WaPo and the networks and how they literally decided what news was needed to mold the “right” public mindset during the Cold War and compared it to today’s feckless if not bizarre MSM Trump Syndrome. He concluded: “In the Cold War, the press at least could tell itself it was shaping public consciousness, rather than being shaped by it in a miserable bid for clicks from telling audiences what they wanted to hear.”

The revelation hit home. The old elitist farts on the coasts may have been full of themselves, but at least their BS smelled sweet; today’s new woke elitists on the coasts are passing their nasty gas with the help of high-tech advancements and it smells to high heaven.
