ABC’s of CBS’s Journalistic Betrayal

Letter to Romans: Bari Weiss told her CBS News staff they’re “not producing a product enough people want.” Translated: Most Americans think the network’s editors & reporters have betrayed journalism’s No. 1 rule of objectivity by peddling their biased woke ideologies.

The Fox News story focused on the supposed “polarizing” CBS News editor-in-chief”s recent pep talk to staffers in the wake of her getting the top job just months ago due to declining viewership. We’re to believe the weird “tall hall” meeting was meant to “clear the air” over grumblings & morale issues centering around her lack of TV experience, differences in editorializing and so on. Yet, the reality is, Weiss could have been preaching the same message to the congregations over at ABC & NBC. Those other legacy networks may be getting better viewership numbers right now compared to the home of (Blessed Be the Name of) SIXTY MINUTES. But only a Blind TV Guide can’t see that more than half of America has come to see ALL the networks as little more than propagandists favoring their own political agendas.

The “Trust Gap” is amazing, when I think of the days in which Walter Cronkite’s word was almost taken by the average man on the street as Gospel. The most recent Gallop Poll doesn’t likely lie in telling us less than a third of Americans believe what today’s Conkrites are telling them on the Telly. Granted, the damning numbers can vary if legacy print & online outlets are included … but not by that much. The WSJ in the Gallop Poll, for instance, got MORE than 30% of the respondents saying they trusted it more than distrusted. And, of course, the conservative news source was liked a lot better by Republicans than Democrats. If I were Weiss or any of her colleagues, then, I’d preach a return to Old School Journalism’s bipartisan principals and techniques. How? Dust off the books in the library; view the tapes of the old Cronkite broadcasts; and get a life.
