CA Trifecta: Dirtier Air, Worse Lungs at Higher Prices

Letter to Ephesians: As we see fewer EVs than once mandated by progressives, we’re also reminded California’s “headlong rush to eliminate fossil fuels is resulting in more smog & pollution, which, unlike CO2 emissions, damage human health." Let’s drink to obscene prices too!

The WSJ editors framed the above foolish “Save the Planet” policies in their op ed titled, “California’s Great Climate Backfire.” We won’t mention (too much) how most of the nation dodged bankruptcy had those unrealistic mandates eliminating gas-fueled vehicles by the end of this decade not been abandoned by Congress. Yet the latest irony if not hypocrisy noted by the editors is “Sacramento Democrats are [now] allowing dirtier air to avoid gasoline price spikes.” Says the WSJ: “California’s war on fossil fuels is backfiring in spectacular fashion, as gasoline prices, imports of foreign oil & CO2 emissions all increase. The response in Sacremento? Allow more oil drilling & dirtier blends of gasoline in the state. Whatever happened to the climate emergency?”

What happened is that the once oil-producing juggernaut – not so long ago, California produced most of its own gasoline -- was largely choked to death by “burdensome climate regulations.” Now, the state is a huge IMPORTER of the fossil fuel so that the state’s gas prices average $4.65 a gallon, which is nearly $1.45 more than the national average “and nearly two bucks more than in Texas.” Likely refinery shutdowns are expected to drive local prices higher still. California, then, has remarkably managed a DOUBLE woke TRIFECTA when it comes to fossil fuels & the environment: Ignorance. Delusion. Hypocrisy resulting in dirtier air, worse health at higher prices.
