Letter to Ephesians: Rooftop Pastor’s a rare voice of reason in Sanctuary City of Chicago. He implies Mayor Richard J. Daley’s laughing HAO in Heaven at today’s “delusional” Mayor Johnson who sees a record murder rate yet insists all city’s gangbangers need is TLC.

In his Fox News opinion piece, Pastor Corey Brooks, Project H.O.O.D. founder, doesn’t hold back in again calling out Johnson as well as all Chicagoans for “betraying their ‘common sense’ and voting for” a stiff to run their toddlin’ town ... into the ground, like 4 feet under. What got the good pastor riled this time? Just that, according to an analysis by Wirepoints, Chicago remained the “homicide capital of America” for the 13th straight year. How bloody did it get most recently? At least 573 homicides were committed in Chicago during 2024 at the rate of 21.5 homicides per 100K residents. Those numbers far surpass those other major cities like NYC & LA.

As Pastor Brooks argued: “Most of Chicago’s city leaders ... refuse to look at reality in all of its ugliness. [Even] after an unruly mob of over 300 kids took over” the city’s famed Navy Pier and Loop recently, Mayor Johnson said the solution was more ‘safe spaces.’ Safe spaces for whom?” Yet, it’s a pattern, the pastor notes, as every time destructive activity like this is called out the mayor “chastises” the critic for “demonizing children” over “silly decisions.” Retorts the pastor: “I didn’t see anything ‘silly’ about those videos showing these kids bashing innocent people over the head.” If only the pastor would not commit the same sin of naivete by calling the rioters “teenage mobs.” As an ex-South Side Chicagoan myself, I’d know they’re gangbangers.
