Dems Cough With ObamaCare vs Troops Vote

Letter to Ephesians: By voting against a bill to fund US military for a year, Democrats now won’t even support their own proposal to fund the troops. That is, unless the GOP agrees to extend billions in subsidies to ObamaCare insurers THEY promised were temporary.
Remember the Covid pandemic? The Democrats don’t. But that IS when massive subsidies on taxpayers’ dime were handed out by Congress to keep ObamaCare afloat, just until 2026, while the world was supposedly in a war with germs worse than the Spanish Flu circa 1918. Well, the world’s population is bursting at the seams more than ever, yet the WSJ editors note, the Democrats’ strategy during this year’s budget showdown & government shutdown “apparently includes taking the U.S. military hostage to extract a bailout for ObamaCare.” In short, the Dems are not only refusing to vote for a stopgap measure to reopen the government but refusing a GOP proposal to advance the DEMOCRATS’ bill to fund the Defense Department for a full year. The idea of course may escape logic, except as political gamesmanship at the expense of national defense.
The WSJ witnessed how GOP Senate Leader John Thune was beside himself. Said Thune, “If anything was needed to demonstrate just how fundamentally uninterested Democrats are in supporting our troops – and defending our country – just take a look at this vote.” The editors agreed, the GOP Senator. & his colleague “have a substantive point.”
