Face the Truth: Fauci Couldn’t Handle It
Letter to Ephesians: Wasn’t Fauci’s taking the 5th an ego decision, not a legal one? He had a presidential pardon in his pocket. And Fauci was open to state litigation regardless. But could he “handle the truth” when others insisted ANY of his Covid advice had been OFF?
I revisit Fauci’s betting his “legacy” on the legal plea that mobsters usually take because they have something to hide. In retrospect, it’s starting to look more like Fauci had reason not to look in the mirror Senator Paul promised to hold up to him on national TV. Even colleague Dr. Redfield, a former CDC Director, recently told Fox News: “I’m disappointed Fauci didn’t tell the truth” about the danger of gain of function research; also about the Wuhan lab he helped fund, which “most likely” triggered the Covid pandemic. Fauci’s legal team bears some of the blame. I suggest his lawyers committed the Cardinal Sin of letting their client fall into the trap Senator Paul had meticulously laid out for him. That is, by threatening Fauci’s ego, albeit with a weak legal argument. As the Senator himself conceded afterwards, all the good doctor had to do was to tell the truth & he’d be hermetically shielded from any federal prosecution.
Recall the iconic scene in “A Few Good Men.” You know the cross-examination Hail Mary defense a desperate Marine attorney Lt. Daniel Kaffee tossed at arrogant Col. Jessup. Having no concrete evidence that his clients had been framed for a hazing crime turned deadly, a relentlessly needling Kaffee finally & theatrically demands, “I want the truth.” In response, an uncharacteristically flustered Jessup angrily shouts back, “You can’t handle the truth,” then, proceeds to hang himself by describing how he brilliantly ordered the defendants to be framed. Some would argue THAT is why Fauci’s attorneys advised him to take the 5th. But isn’t the difference, Jessup didn’t have a presidential pardon in his pocket, Fauci did?
