FED’s Cook learns No One’s “Untouchable”

Letter to Ephesians: While MSM & Dems insist it’s common for DC Pols to lie, er, exaggerate on their mortgage applications, the FED’s Lisa Cook finds out, like Chicago’s Al Capone, that no one is Untouchable ...

That’s because the WSJ reports Justice has opened a criminal investigation into whether Cook submitted fraudulent information on more than one mortgage application. Subpoenas have already been issued to get to the bottom of Cook’s properties in Ann Arbor, Michigan and Atlanta, Georgia as the contents will be shared with grand juries. Cook’s lawyer, Abbe Lowell, quickly charged that the Trump Administration has “politicized” the DOJ & suggested it’s pretty common for Swamp Rats to be less than accurate on their many mortgage applications in order to get cheaper interest rates. Watch out, Abbe, that excuse making comes pretty close to admitting to fraud, especially since the Dems made so much about “no one is above the law” when they nearly lawfared No. 45, now No. 47, to death.

But let’s set aside for the moment whether mortgage fraud is widespread & should be winked at rather than prosecuted vigorously as the law says. There’s an irony attached to the Cook prosecution & other slippery DC pols like ex-Chicagoans Hillary Clinton & Barack Obama that is clear to any person who knows Windy City history. Consider how hard Agent Eliot Ness tried to pin murder & racketeering raps on the Chicago mob’s Al Capone only to fail miserably; that is, until someone figured the feds could get Big Al on income tax evasion charges, which until then had been pretty much winked at. Mortgage Fraud like tax evasion may not be sexy, but there’s no reason not to open our eyes to it.
