Letter to Ephesians: If politics is the “art of compromise,” the controversy over renaming the Kennedy Center to include Trump is going to take some horse trading … if not millions in legal fees should law fare be the judge …
Democrats, the masters at renaming shrines, are already threatening lawsuits and/or the almost obsolete option of “passing” new legislation as well as gas to overturn the once National Arts Center’s board to honor No. 47. And, for what? For reviving if not saving them from his woke and broke predecessors. If we asked JFK who had a great sense of humor, the smart money would be on No. 35 laughing his butt off at the whole clown act. And, if we asked a liberal court in its radicalized DC? The anti-Trump vitriol spewing from its jurists would not pass the SNL censors. Or the U.S. Supreme Court? They’d studiously look at the history of the legislation creating the arts edifice and original renaming of the original … how it was privately funded on government land & held together since with the help (or waste) of annual federal subsidies … and pray Hail Mary they’d be saved from having to cast a final vote.
But, back to JFK himself. From living through and loving the Camelot years (except for its tragic ending), I’d say the PT 109 war hero would suggest kissing both Democrats’ and Republicans’ rear ends by renaming the center a third (charm) time and call it “RFK Jr. Center for the Performing Arts.”
