Hyundai Raid Points to Green Card Reform

Letter to Ephesians: FINALLY, someone in MSM urged the most obvious solution to the deportation war being carried out now by ICE in the workplace: “How about asking Congress to create more legal ways to enter & work in the US?”

The above suggestion was lodged by the WSJ’s editorial board BUT only after bemoaning, as usual, how “a sweeping raid” on Hyundai’s Georgia plant “shows every business [in the nation] is a potential ICE target.” Well, jiminy cricket, what a revelation the WSJ starts out with, as if ICE’s inherently & necessarily nasty job is to pick & choose its raids with a woke or politically correct fine tooth comb. Like many in the MSM, these editors state the obvious about ICE’s raid in Georgia that rounded up some 475 illegal workers, many of whom were Korean, some Mexican, nationals. Another no brainer noted is that the raid “illustrates the America First contradiction of demanding foreign investment in the US while shrinking the available workforce.”

OK, but what else is new or that should have been expected? Caught in the middle of this political scrum is ICE while Congress continues to do NOTHING to address the broken immigration system, whether the America First policy was a factor & being enforced by ICE or not. Gratefully, the WSJ does hit the nail on the head, if belatedly. That is, by urging Congress to modernize aka expand & streamline the outdated green card & migrant application processes so LEGAL foreign workers will more easily meet the nation’s growing labor needs & ILLEGAL foreign workers subject to wasteful deportation proceedings become more of a rarity.
