Iran War Will End … When It Ends

Letter to Romans: How foolish is it for those after just 10 days of “war” to forecast the “three” ways it might end, i.e., in a “Win,” “Lose” or “Draw.” You think it’s a tough “Da” call right now, that is, akin to being “amazed” at the spike in oil prices?

Yet here we read Walter Russell Mead’s WSJ op ed waxing long on those “Father-Son-Holy Ghost” outcome prognostications, ending up in a coin flip in favor of a "most likely draw.” No sooner did that editorial get published than an inch away was another article telling us how the price of oil futures had plummeted back down to $90 a barrel as the G-7 nations are gathering to talk the war talk, Trump told a televised presser how the US already “won” most of its war objectives so that the “excursion” would most likely be over in “weeks not months,” and War Secretary Hegseth said the next day’s bombing of Iran’s infrastructure would be exponentially fiercer yet.

The truth? Once a President takes up the sword, NOTHING has ever been entirely predictable. Ask George Washington. Or Abraham Lincoln. Or FDR. The only thing predictable in 2026, in fact, has been that a fight between the religiously fanatical Islamic Republic and the West it vows to “wipe from the face of the earth” was so inevitable that Mr. Trump plainly said he took up his sword “now” because “it would have been far worse later.” No, he's not the failed Iranian bribers Obama or Biden. But as it turns out, he had offered Iran for FREE and FOREVER all the nuclear material it could ever need for peaceful energy purposes. Having been smoked out, the Iranians bragged in turn about how they already had enough weaonized material to make 11 bombs within weeks and btw it was their sovereign right to own & use the A-BOMB however they see fit. See, it’s never been so hard to understand them, or Trump’s thinking. And you don’t need a pundit to tell us the obvious … or impossible to predict … possible outcomes.
