Justices’ Independence & Vox Populi

Letter to Ephesians: While a recent poll showed 52% of voters oppose altering the Supreme Court’s structure as demanded by some Democrats wanting to control it, a shocking 42% say stacking the court or legislating term limits via constitutional amendment is fine by them.
Then, again, they don’t teach many Civics or Constitutional logic in our schools these days, do they? Still, the ignorance is appalling. And it’s hard to blame some folks for that ignorance, as Fox News & WSJ recently reported, when an ex-President repeatedly proclaims his support for a Supreme Court do over amid feigned outrage over recent decisions that went against his views or agenda.
In fact, the very fact that politicians would demand constitutional changes every time a ruling doesn’t go their way is exactly why the Founding Fathers put the “life-time” term for the Justices into the US Constitution, so they wouldn’t have to be subjected to the oppressive pressure of deciding cases “the right way for the wrong reasons.”
