Lefty ABA & AG’s Slap in Its Blue Face

Letter to Ephesians: It speaks volumes that the American Bar Assn’s based in Sanctuary CHICAGO. DOJ finally moved to oust the alleged “leftist group” from playing its historical role in judicial appointments. Can it ever live down its character assassination of conservative judges like Kavanaugh?

Despite insisting it’s “nonpartisan,” it is well-documented the ABA has most recently advocated left-of-center policies on race, abortion, criminal justice & LGBT issues. But, when it came to the group’s bizarre support of liberal judicial candidates while degrading conservative ones, especially during the two Trump presidencies, the group’s “plausible deniability” claims became too implausible. As Fox News recently reported, Attorney General Pam Bondi finally sent a letter telling the ABA it will “no longer comply with its ratings for judicial nominees.” Fox called it “the latest escalation in a protracted legal fight between Republicans & the nation’s largest legal organization.” But, conservatives’ disgust with the group was arguably sealed in 2018 when it called for an FBI investigation into then-Sup Ct nominee Brett Kavanagh for alleged sexual misconduct when a young man & demanded the Senate postpone a vote on his appointment by Trump.

As Influence Watch recalls, “Prior to Justice Kavanaugh’s nomination, the ABA had rated him ‘well qualified.’” After his nomination, Democrats on the Senate Judiciary Cte suddenly wondered about his “temperament” after they attacked him in testimony before them. The misconduct charges were of course debunked. Yet, Kavanaugh wasn’t the only ABA target & has “even been accused of ‘brazen character assassination’” of other Republican nominees. Not coincidentally, the ABA alleged 6 of Trump’s nominees were “not qualified” while only 4 nominees made by 4 prior presidents got so labelled. As Bondi suggested though, no one’s above the law, including the ABA.
