Medicaid Fraud Czar Faces Unavoidable Pain

Letter to Romans: Congress’s lack of welfare guardrails & states’ use of federal grants as if a political slush fund combined to enable the massive fraud we see. Now, new Government Fraud Czar Vance has the thankless job of freezing Medicaid funds until the melted ice dries up.

The freezing of $260 million in Medicaid money to Minnesota reported by the WSJ was the VP’s opening salvo since the fraud already exposed there was so rampant. He promised the bad or even worse fraud suspected in other states were next. As if on cue, the state’s Gov. Walz accused Vance of “politicizing” the situation & depriving worthy Medicaid recipients of vital medical care; meanwhile, Vance’s opponent for the vice presidency in the 2024 election insists there’s nothing he could have done to prevent the Medicaid fraud under his watch, which has resulted in nearly 80 convictions.

Is Gov Waltz telling VP Vance to do as he’s been doing & continue the pandamic inspired wink-wind system that enabled such unprecedented rip offs of the public’s treasure? Of course he is. But, of course, Mr. Vance will do no such thing. What the VP will have to do is Congress’s job for it by going back to square one with clear-cut guidelines for issuing Medicaid assistance, then, closely monitoring the states’ compliance. It’s outrageous that innocent & deserving Medicaid beneficiaries are going to have to put up with this crap. But it’ll will hopefully result in a more honest as well as efficient system of welfare.
