Musk’s House Bill Pork Whine Is Rich

Letter to Ephisians: Elon Musk’s bashing of Trump’s Big Beautiful Bill as an “abomination” might have been expected from a political neophyte, yet if the bill fails there won’t be ANY cuts & there will be a massive tax increase. Is THIS what Mr. Tesla wants? BTW: Will he volunteer to bludgeon HIS “pork”?

The WSJ’s editors weren’t trying to be mean, just wondering out loud, in it’s “Whose Pork Do You Mean, Elon?” The editors even throw him a bone by noting Musk’s “work at DOGE made him persona non grata in the Beltway and most criticism was nasty & unfair.” Yet, they suggest, it’s only fair to also ask Musk why he’s “joining the Beltway crowd trying to kill the ‘pork-filled’ House tax bill.” True, the WSJ concedes, “the House bill could be far better on tax policy & spending reduction” while the Senate could make it better still. But they add, “the House bill does avoid a $4.5 TRILLION tax hike next year & cuts spending by some $1.5 trillion over 10 years by making some useful reforms to Medicaid, student loans & food stamps. It also ends most of the Inflation Reduction Act’s green-energy subsidies.”

Aha! Could THAT be a contributing factor in Musk’s disgust? That is, didn’t Mr. Tesla and his company get richer & richer thanks to those government corporate welfare? “Ah, but Mr. Musk doesn’t want to eliminate THAT pork.” Instead, he suggested on X that “slashing solar energy credits is unjust” and might even end the grid as we know it. That, the editors observed “parrots the climate lobby’s specious claim and add: “But it’s rich that he is denouncing the House bill for not cutting spending enough while fuming it kills green-energy tax credits, as if they are a matter of life-and-death for Tesla.”
