Only in America is Justice Free AND Possible

Soulful Pulpit: In lifting judge’s ban on Trump’s ICE surge in Chicago the 7th Circuit Ct of Appeals reminded why it’s impo to have faith in our justice system. One by one the appellate courts & Supremes have corralled these rogues as the Founding Fathers envisioned.

It’s sometimes hard for many folks to have patience with the pace of justice under our constitutional system. But, while humanoids will be humanoids, let’s never forget how brilliant the Founding Fathers were when they painstakingly debated, then, crafted the best Constitution Mother Earth ever was blessed with. Think of the many constitutional checks & balances, including THREE levels of judges helping decide an accused’s fate, lifelong appointments so it’s harder (though not impossible to buy them off) and a comprehensive Bill of Rights with teeth, including Habeas Corpus and freedom of religion as well as speech. Compare that to the circus justice nearly everywhere else. Think what folks have to deal with in Russia, China, North Korea, Iran and England or Wales. Yes, England or Wales, which are on an anti-free speech kick by criminally prosecuting those daring to post on social media “grossly offensive” communications.

A big critic of the UK brand of woke justice is George Washington University Law Professor Jonathan Turley who has repeatedly opined the UK pols are masking free speech suppression through this “ridiculously vague” notion of criminal conduct for what others might or might not call “offensive” speech and, regardless, why would “offensive” speech land somebody in jail? But, back to the 7th Circuit’s icing that judge when Prof. Turley opined it had “delivered a haymaker to Obama-appointee Judge Sara Ellis for her efforts to limit federal enforcement of immigration laws. It accused her of “effectively establishing” herself “as the supervisor of all Executive Branch activity in the city of Chicago.” Only in America.
