Our Bill of Excuses Has a Statute of Limits

Letter to Romans: Today’s worst murderers are so pampered by our Republic’s Constitutional protections obtaining a conviction can be anything but a slam dunk. In Rome’s Republic, the Sanhedrin had only to weaponize Holy Jesus’ free speech & beliefs to crucify Him.

Thank God, of course, for the USA’s unique Bill of Rights that like nowhere else in this violent world shields all of us from governmental abuse. Yet doesn’t it get tiring to hear the excuse making defense attorneys often make on behalf of their clients aka alleged assassins, traffickers & terrorists who are arguably guilty to all but the blind? Charlie Kirk’s “don’t call him an assassin” comes to mind; despite a mountain of evidence tying him to the dirty deed, the accused’s attorneys are most recently pointing to the FBI’s inability to “match” the fragmented bone-shattering bullet to the gun that killed … and claiming it as “exoneration.” Ditto the “whoever not me” accused gun man who maybe shot in cold blood, but did not “stalk” let alone “assassinate,” that healthcare company CEO; it’s not so much the defense so far is arguing the man’s innocence but that the cops got tainted if damnable evidence via illegal searches or failed to utter the usual Miranda warnings to the highly intelligent defendant. They want such evidence suppressed.

Enough. Everyone has a right to a fair trial, but there’s no such thing in heaven or on earth as a right to beat a rap when guilty. Most folks aren’t stupid. They know bogus charges & excuses when they see & hear them. Christ was no more guilty of “treason” under Roman Law than Charlie or Mr. CEO deserved to die at the hands of a murdering Bunny Rabbit.
