Letter to Ephesians: How to take seriously Saturday’s “No Kings” nationwide protests since scores of DNC affiliates & proxies reportedly (& obviously) organized & rallied largely its party legions, to show their “defiance” of ... What? Trump? Why? To save democracy? Patriots did it better...
Talk to any of these “mostly peacefully” protesters during the hundreds of photo ops in hundreds of US cities and they usually do little more than parrot the soundbites mastered by the DNC machine. God bless them. To express oneself peacefully is what America is uniquely all about.
Yet, like Lincoln once said, I also prefer patriotism without the base alloy of hypocrisy. In contrast, the country was simultaneously treated to an unabashed flag waving day of celebrating the US Army’s 250th birthday ... without which neither Republicans nor Democrats would be here today, free to argue about every issue they can dream up, so long as they argue and don’t fight. The parade down DC’s Pennsylvania Avenue honored our Army Strong and the day culminated in a giant fireworks display. Shades of Fort McHenry being bombarded. You could almost see Francis Scotty Key penning the Star-Spangled Banner as & as if bombs were actually bursting overhead. Ain’t real democracy a beautiful thing for us to treasure? Think what Israel & Iran are experiencing right now in their war. In truth, then, God bless America. God bless us all.
