“People of the Lie” Did Not Lie

Letter to Romans: Evil is real. And it explains today’s inexplicable murders, “asinine” speeches & outrageous “ideologies” or “religions.” Can’t say we weren’t warned, however, as Jesus Christ repeatedly told the truth about evil among us & in 1983 M. Scott Peck wrote the definitive book on it.

It was back in my days as a young lawyer that I saw firsthand how bad human nature can be (as well as wonderfully inspiring) and wondered how a Catholic like me could deal with it “on the job” as they say. Then, I came across psychiatrist Peck’s “People of the Lie: The Hope for Healing Human Evil.” As the “AI devil” sums it up (quite well, actually), he defined evil as “a psychological disorder characterized by narcissism, self- deception & a refusal to confront one’s own failures.”

Sound familiar? For example, the “trans” man who shot up a church he had once attended, now filled with praying children, killing two, wounding a dozen more with guns; consider, too, the “asinine” (per a Bishop’s reaction) to the city’s mayor & other “progressive” pols who used the tragedy to criticize others asking God for help in dealing with the evil & push their political agenda. As Peck would have said, “it’s a classic example that ‘People of the Lie’ attack others to avoid self-examination, creating distorted realities through manipulation & gaslighting.”
