Letter to Ephesians: While the Soros Family may or may not be the political equivalent of the Corleone’s, isn’t it a good thing somebody is openly challenging the billionaire outfit that has its defense lawyers primed to fight the upcoming “Battle with the Trump Administration?”
After all, Pops George & Sonny Alex Soros insisted in their anti-Trump lawfare efforts that “no one is above the law.” And they’ve surely been criticized for their allegedly suspicious “philanthropy” before. But as the recent WSJ story suggested, the Trump DOJ’s official announcement that it has instructed the agency to “probe” the Soros Empire is the first time it’s been so candidly & publicly promised. It also meant (& not for the first time) that the IRS investigators would also be involved. Shades of President Herbert Hoover’s Justice Dept. indicting Chicago Mob leader Al Capone for income tax evasion, after years of the FBI’s Untouchables failing to charge him with any crime that would stick?
According to the WSJ, Alex Soros, the 39-year-old son of the Hungarian billionaire, has responded to the openly hostile Trump pursuit with the equivalent of the familiar, “Go ahead and make my day.” He’s so cocky, we’re told, because his father’s philanthropy & super PAC, Open Society, “is on track to hand out $1.4 billion this year” while its accountants & lawyers are well paid to, unlike Big Al, carefully document & presumably justify every penny doled out to non-profits, “from Planned Parenthood’s advocacy arm in the US to a non-profit” addressing “climate change in Africa.” The real question to underscore the latest probe, of course, is whether, like Big Al, any of that Soros funding has crossed a line, like, intentionally fomenting sedition or even rebellion. So, there you have it. The lines have been drawn. It’s about time. And may the best Family, er, man win.
