Soulful Gratitude in Lead Up to Thanksgiving

Letter to Romans: Forty years ago, in between jobs, I came out of my desert to find myself by walking the Rhineland. I now return to Germany’s version of Italy’s Tuscany for the next 10 days wiser & grateful to realize we’ve all experienced the many ups & downs of life …
… I’m surely no exception and have also discovered that “it” never gets easier. Yet, looking back while revisiting the many scenic wonders I once drunk in as a much younger man along the Rhine from Amsterdam to Cologne to Koblenz to Strasbourg to the Black Forest to Basel, I suspect I will mostly be struck by how grateful I am and always will be for my revelations then and my God-given life’s journey since.
Perhaps it was Destiny and this return voyage certainly seems appropriate in the lead up to Thanksgiving 2025. It’s as if the Holy Spirit is still whispering in my ears as He did to the Jews after the Passover ordeal: “Blessed are You, King of the Universe, Who gives us our lives. If You had only given me birth … It would have been enough.
