Trump: O’Donnell & Squirrels Aren’t Americans

President Trump’s threat to take away Rosie O’Donnell’s citizenship for her over-the-top hateful bitching is not only unnecessary (she’s already self-deported to Ireland) but highly improbable since American law has always backed any nutcase’s right to make a fool of themselves.

In response, Yahoo News says long-time Trump nemesis O’Donnell characteristically went off on a long-winded (even for her) rant calling No. 47 “A danger to the nation.” That latest blarney from the supposed Ugly American in Ireland likely drew a confirming smile from the White House incumbent. But, as GW University Law Professor Jonathan Turley recently pointed out, “I cannot find ‘talks to squirrels’ as a basis for revocation in the U.S. Code ... If being obnoxious were grounds for revocation, most of Congress and cable news would be instantly deportable.” Harvard Law Prof Gerald Neuman agreed that the Constitution’s 14th Amendment is “clear” that those born on American soil ... are forevermore citizens of the United States, period.

Well, President Trump surely has been informed of the Supreme Court precedents on the subject, despite his highly publicized view that this “birthright citizenship” should no longer be extended to children of unauthorized immigrants or those in the country on a temporary visa. It’s those weightier considerations, Professor Turley would most likely suggest Trump stay focused on and to avoid getting distracted by the jibblings of squirrels like O’Donnell.
