Trump’s Walk in the Arena 4 World Peace

Not to harshly critique Trump’s attempts to mediate peace with Russia, China & Iran. The “man in the arena” deserves thanks. But, it’s getting clear his gallant efforts being constantly rebuffed by the dictators may mean it’s time to stop talking softly & wield the big stick.

The WSJ editorial board suggested as much in it’s “Will Trump Take ‘No’ for an Answer?” They warn No. 47 that his yeoman patience in deal-making, while admirable & perhaps essential in many such scenarios, aren’t working here because “These aren’t real-estate negotiations.” As the editors note, the reality seems to be that Putin, Xi & Khomeini have been “testing” Mr. Trump & are dangerously close to concluding that his threats of “really bad things” happening to them if they don’t compromise are ONE BIG BEAUTIFUL BLUFF.

And, if that happens, as Teddy Roosevelt would have said, “You can kiss your Bull Moose good-bye.” Russia will keep slicing away at Ukraine’s territory, China will keep tightening its reins around Taiwan, and Iran will continue creating enough nuclear stuff to create an A-bomb. So, maybe it’s time to impose those “maximum pressure” tactics Teddy, er, Donald, has been talking about ... with enough force to be convincing, but not so much as to trigger WW III. Mission Impossible? Teddy Bear never said the Man in the Arena could carry his stick in a park.
