U-Visa Scam in Podunk USA Put on ICE

Letter to Philippians: As if illustrating how deep corruption runs in the “illegal immigration industry,” consider the police chiefs in Podunk USA accused of faking robberies to fund a $5K-a-Pop U-visa fraud scheme …

As related in a recent WSJ exposé, “For nearly a decade, four Louisiana lawmen & a Subway shop owner manufactured phony crime reports to help foreign nationals stay in the U.S.” And, if true, the crime spree didn’t happen in the Bronx or along LA’s Rodeo Drive, but in a southwestern Louisiana city of 6,600 whose biggest boast is to be the home of a federal prison, a plywood mill & a couple of crawfish joints. The alleged crimes as detailed in a detailed 62-count federal indictment accuse three current or former police chiefs, an elected marshal and the Subway sandwich guy. The visa-fraud scheme was simple enough & supposedly went like this: The accused spent 10 years working in unison to manufacture false crime reports netting them $5,000 per “victim” while helping hundreds of foreign nationals get U visas so they could qualify for a status allowing victims of crime to stay in the US. Mr. Subway, a U visa recipient himself, would allegedly connect with crime “victims” looking for more than a foot-long concoction, then, turn to one of the cops to draw up the necessary reports & other “sworn” paperwork for “crimes than never happened.”

It wasn’t until July of 2024 that US Citizenship & Immigration Services noticed & pieced together a pattern of inconsistencies in U-visa applications. The rest is still unfolding in court. As if the WSJ needed to point out, “The Trump administration has focused on illegal immigration at US borders and in major cities. The Louisiana cases allege another pathway – one far from any border & aided from inside small-town police departments.” Could this be the tip of a nation-wide ICE-berg? A federal grand jury in Boston did also indict 10 Indian nationals for allegedly staging convenience store hold ups to similarly secure U visas. What do U think?
