Ukraine War A Tweedle Dee, Tweedle Dum

WSJ criticized “I negotiate from strength” Trump for “sounding like the one who wants a peace deal in Ukraine” the most. But, isn’t THAT the problem as Russia, Ukraine, EU & NATO do NOTHING to end the carnage in their own backyard?

Put another way, the case can be made that the Ukraine War has been & continues to be a case of Tweedle Dee, Tweedle Dum. An increasingly frustrated, yet still optimistic President Trump seemed to say as much in a recent press conference. There, he cautiously called out all the above parties for “wanting a place at the negotiating table” -- yet Russia can’t stop coveting Ukraine & no matter how many of its troops die, Ukraine can’t compromise one iota no many how many of its cities are “turned into Gaza,” the niggardly European nations can’t stop looking to the U.S. to fund that never-ending war, and NATO can’t stop being addicted to US money no matter what.

Meanwhile, the parties as well as the WSJ & the rest of the MSM have been wringing their hands over real or imagined missteps by Team Trump, the one group showing any real interest in mediating a cease fire. The president supposedly is naively trusting Putin to “really want peace” and giving him too much deference; Secretary of Defense Hegseth gets creamed for saying the obvious, that is, that Ukraine can’t join NATO now & Russia won’t be giving back the Crimea it took in the 2014 war; and Secretary of State Rubio shouldn't have met with his Russian counterpart without Ukraine’s ok. As well placed as the criticisms might be, might it be said they are more “intrigue” than not? Invariably forgotten is that Team Trump is the only one trying to do SOMETHING to get every other interested party off their fences to jumpstart talks.
