What Will It Take to Make UN Unite us?

Letter to Ephesians: Trump read the Riot Act to the (Dis)United Nations, bluntly telling its members how they defeat peace as well as human rights rather than facilitate them as promised. Shame about Trump’s TRUTH, i.e., how IRRELEVANT the UN’s become …

That pretty much sums up the WSJ editorial board’s assessment of No. 47’s recent speech at the UN. Concluded the editors: “… sometimes [Trump’s painfully blunt] candor has the advantage of speaking truths that no one else dares to recognize.” Not that Mr. Trump didn’t acknowledge the UN’s “tremendous, tremendous potential” … but the sorry catch is that … “it’s not even coming close to living up to that potential.” The WSJ, God bless it, gave Trump its equivalent of a standing ovation in noting: “In 2017 the UN delegates laughed at Mr. Trump’s General Assembly remarks, but not this time. If they were honest with themselves, at least some of them would admit that he has the place nailed.”

The President’s laundry list of UN failings & hypocrisies was devastating. “Not only is the UN not solving problems it should, too often it is actually creating new problems for us to solve … The Ukraine war? Hapless … Gaza? It’s mostly emboldened Hamas to refuse to compromise … China’s expansions in South China Sea? Useless … And, the greatest con job ever perpetrated on the world” is the UN’s preoccupation with climate change while spending trillions to stop rising temperatures that “have accomplished nothing other than encourage political rent-seeking.” So, why would the USA want to continue supporting this unhinging & failing pipe dream?
