Democrats' (Re)New(ed) Dictatorship of the Absurd

Letter to Romans: Do Democrats ask why their party has turned against “direct democracy” by using courts & “legislative tricks” to block citizen initiatives? Do the most radical among them realize their “unchallengeable” ideas have always been undemocratic to most?

As the WSJ’s editorial board recently complained, “We often hear we’re living in a new progressive era, not unlike the one 120 years ago when popular reforms took on trusts & entrenched power. But then why are Democrats & their union allies subverting citizen initiatives that challenge their monopoly power & ability to raise taxes will-nilly?" Don’t like the DSA’s idea of banning police, open borders and the US Constitution that provides for a president, Senate & Supreme Court? Too bad. Their one-party rule will be cop, judge & jury over everyone’s lives, from cradle to grave. And, you’ll like it or else.

The answer to the editors’ key question has at least something to do with the inconvenient truth that the die hard progressives have again lost the argument over whether civilization’s path forward should be a truly democratic effort or controlled by a small bunch of elitists. Oh, the debate itself is nothing new. Nor is the apparent “rise” of the Democratic Socialist aka Marxist Party … During the Great Depression, socialists claimed 30 percent of the population and/or its vote. Yet, time and again the socialist monkey keeps rearing its ugly head whenever the progressive “losers” of society realize they can’t rig the system to their likely, meaning they can’t control it through their “dictatorship of the proletariat,” meaning themselves. In truth & in plain sight, their progressive mantra is becoming the “dictatorship of the absurd.”
