Oughta Be A Law vs CFP’s “January Madness”?

Letter to Romans: Catholics & Convicts deserve an auto CFP crowning as much as Harry gets a free pass to UK's throne. But neither deserves losing their best D & O players before the BIG ONE. And nobody deserves the greedy CFP’s lawless Playoff Rules …

Consider ESPN’s always righteous sports prognosticator Paul Fineman. Every year he screeches how “insane” the CFP rankings are, this year because teams with 2 losses half-way thru the season are ranked in the top 12 for available playoff spots and the big pay day they invariably entail. He's suggesting the CFP ”committee,” that accounts to no one and consists of college football asylum inmates, make up the rankings based on unfathomable & ever-changing acid tests. Well, agreed. But, hello Paul, stock up on hankies as you make your well-financed living waxing long on the radio & TV. Things may get worse since reason & logic have nothing to do with these judges’ rankings while unmitigated GREED does. Why else would the current playoff system keep favoring most of the same rich schools AND reportedly be DOUBLED next year via a 24-team format? Wouldn’t this DOUBLE Fineman’s insanity as well as the networks’ cash flow?

Yeah, it’s assumed the CFP will provide for some ranked teams to get early buys. And maybe the so-called Power-4 conferences will take a pass on their second-chance championship games. But the “new” system will invariably mean MORE games with even bigger hitting. If anyone’s paying attention, college football players are not only getting enriched via the NIL money now available but injured too. It was daunting enough for college players to dodge injury in a 10-game season. But now? Any wonder Notre Dame’s defensive captain & leading tackler, LB Drayk Bowen, is out for the Miami game with an unspecified ankle injury? Or that Miami’s all-star WR, Malachi Toney, is said to be undergoing (minor) surgery for his recently “rolled” ankle? Moreover, the Irish injury list 7 other players scratched from the critical game while the Hurricanes have 4. Ought there be law to regulate this hotter than hell in July “January Madness”? Not that our sucko Congress can pass anything but gas ...
