Not that the vestiges of racism in America practiced by many whites & Native Americans don’t still need stamping out; or that the ongoing ugly kinds still rampant in the Middle East, Africa & Asia should continue to be overlooked going forward. But the seldom recognized reality of brotherly love among the races (and ALL people as called for in the Bible) hit home on Halloween & as Election Day looms. It was when a 9-year-old black boy & mom came to my door with bag opened wide. My wife offered the boy a plate full of candies and he scooped up most while shyly exclaiming, “You’re the nicest white lady I ever met.” I chuckled, the boy’s mom grimaced & my wife grinned. The young man, of course, meant it as a compliment. I wanted to say to him but didn’t, “You know, son, the vast majority of white people love you as much as their own.” Maybe it took too much time, but that’s the history of Lincoln’s Last Best Hope of Mankind.

Contrary to the woke naysayers, America’s history books have always showed how the white Founding Fathers of the USA openly admitted to being hypocrites when compromising to enact their Constitution; they also have always painfully detailed how hundreds of thousands of whites died in the Civil War to correct that sin; and history has also unfailingly documented how millions of blacks (aided by millions of whites) during the 1960s Civil Rights Movement nobly fought for their full & rightful place in society. So where does the lingering “white guilt” & “black victimhood” come from a half century later, i.e., besides from woke “Justice Warriors” as well as our partisan politicians, academia & MSM? Could such resilient, if self-defeating feelings have the SAME root causes? That being human ignorance, lust for power, fear of losing it & unmitigated greed? If so, hasn’t history taught us such stinking feelings’ days are inevitably numbered? Just as Christ’s blood continues to cleanse each of our souls over the millennia?
