Dirty Secret of Politicizing Supreme Court is Anarchy

Letter to Philippians: The Supremes not only need more protection as politicians demonize them, but don’t the anarchists acting out their devilish threats need to be hunted down, arrested, & prosecuted more often?

The WSJ editorial board penned the usual “dollars & sense” op ed after Supreme Court Justices Elena Kagan & Amy Coney Barrett made the rare trek to Capitol Hill recently to plead for more protection from violent threats. The editors noted how the Court spent $58 million for security in 2026 & is requesting about $19 million more in 2027. Among other things, the Justices want 25 more officers to protect them, even though each of them already has 4-8 agents doing so 24-7. The WSJ’s conclusion: “The shame is it’s needed.” And, they add, the extra money being requested is “a bargain considering the rising risks.” It’s estimated by the Chief Justice that violent threats against the Court have “tripled” in recent years. Justice Kavanaugh, for instance, was an assassin’s target. Justice Barrett had her home threatened by “peaceful” demonstrators chanting violence. The paper blames the inflammatory rhetoric of both parties “smearing the Justices as corrupt,” including commentary by President Trump & Sen. Chuck Schumer; “meanwhile, the social-media left is vitriolic & often unhinged.”

As the WSJ itself concedes, it’s gotten to the point where it “doesn’t take much for a disturbed individual to turn [whatever political gripe] into a cause to kill.” Yet, as is so often the case, there’s not a sentence in the paper’s op ed drawing attention to the lack of local enforcement of the laws intended to protect public officials from violent people PRETENDING to be peacefully protesting … or arresting, then, prosecuting them when they obviously cross the line of constitutionally protected free speech into anarchy. The assault on Justice Barrett’s home & surrounding neighborhood was a prime example as local cops refusing to arrest even the worst offenders. Congress has already made it a crime to even attempt to intimidate let alone impeded a judge and there’s even ample existing local & state laws against threatening, stalking & trespassing. But it’s hardly a secret that if those laws aren’t enforced, the additional Secret Service Agents can’t prevent a future tragedy.
