Flores A Heroic Robinson Or Smollett in Race Card Suit?

Fired Dolphins Coach Brian Flores made fantastic game throwing allegations in his race discrimination suit against the team that have been vehemently denied. The Q begs asking: Is Flores a racial justice pioneer in Robinson mold or ala moldy Jussie Smollett?

Ok. It’s Black History month & this is no way to kick it off. Or, is it? If it’s proven the Dolphins management offered $100K for each game he threw to improve the team’s college draft positioning, somebody in the executive suite could be going to jail under a variety of state & federal laws; in that case, we have another black man with enough guts to take on The Man & win. BUT, if the allegations turn out to be false … we arguably have Jussie Smollett’s precedent of using the race card in the bizarre belief that lying through his teeth, e.g., about being lynch in Chicago’s “Trump Country,” isn’t going to get exposed and HE winds up in jail. For instance, has anyone asked Flores yet why he didn’t realize he was about to be fired when management supposedly told him to throw games (that’s what they probably would do to a losing if not crappy coach they wanted gone); and, maybe, win a game or two to stall what seemed inevitable? And, who offers a piddling $100K to throw a game when State Farm pays QBs more to hawk their insurance rates with “Jake” on television?

Frankly, a cynic born & raised in Chicago might say Flores looks almost like the smoked Smollett than sainted Robinson. In the Windy City, guys who can’t back up their talk used to be called “squirrels” or “crotch kickers” in the olden days; now, they’re called “Smolletts”. Stay tuned.
