Letter to Romans: Bears legend ripped Chicago Dems spending “billions” on illegal alien perks, while stiffing city’s team on a billion-dollar stadium. Then we learn “Hundreds of Billions in Loans didn’t Make a Dent in Global Poverty.” Anything wrong with da picture?
Let’s be frank. No amount of money is likely to win another Super Bowl for Da Bears, with or without a new stadium; nor will Congress spending every gold coin in Fort Knox on poverty eradicate it in anyone’s lifetime. How many times do we need to learn the lesson staring us in the face like that of Refrigerator Perry about to tackle a helpless QB? Yet, the WSJ just ran an “investigative” piece showing how one “Microfinance aimed to foster prosperity but stoked hardship for those borrowers who took on debt they couldn’t afford.” What a shock!
In another no brainer, Fox News told how Bears HOFer Brian Urlacher is blaming the Democratic leaders in Chicago & Illinois for the team’s ballyhooed deal with Indiana to move to a Hammond swampland. It came, of course, after Illinois lawmakers failed for the 5th year in a row to pass legislation greasing the path to a new stadium that would cost over a billion dollars … drum roll … like the opportunistic Indiana did instead in a New York minute. Again, what a shock! But what got me Laughing MAO about all this drama was Urlacher railing & nailing the quarterbacking Democratic pols in Illinois for not doing “what you have to do to keep the Bears” in its birth place of Illinois. He even gave the Land of Lincoln politicians a piece of his home-grown advice: “You look at all the money they’ve given to illegal immigrants & the money they’ve set aside for that, it’s like $2.5, $3 billion that they’ve spent [on them]. That money could be for the Bears.” The Illinois Public Policy Institute says the state is projected to spend up to $3.2B on illegal immigrant services. What are the Las Vegas odds the spend won’t dent the aliens’ “needs” & the Bears won’t care while losing, er, playing in Hammond?
