Hollywood Stars Have ‘Bergman Moment’ in Prickly Putin

Recall how Obama bizarrely used poor Dennis Rodman as at large diplomat in Kim Jong-Un talks, then, try rapping head around pro-Biden Hollywood stars who once hobnobbed with Putin but now “pray” he kindly ends Ukraine invasion.

Of course, Hollywood has largely sanctioned Russia for its uncalled-for war, yet it certainly was a big box office target whose audiences were cultivated in a number of ways. And Fox News counted several of them. For instance, we’re reminded Mickey Rourke recalled a Putin meeting during a pro fight 4 years ago in Russia and having “the time of my life”, esp. when Putin “took us to a very famous museum in St. Petersburg”, then, a children’s cancer hospital ala Danny Thomas, “and, you know, I looked over at him and … I saw a man with empathy who was really moved by what these children are going through.” Fortunately, they were not in a Ukraine children’s hospital.

Then, there’s Leonardo DiCaprio who was famously photographed with Putin in 2010 during a Tiger Conservation Forum, also in St. Petersburg, but in the wake of the Ukraine invasion says he’s making big donations to Ukraine refugee orgs. Meanwhile, Oliver Stone whose sensitive documentary titled “the Putin Interviews” once told KCRW in early Feb. the US had “no proof” that Russia intended to invade Ukraine, but recently condemned its “aggression” ala the US which “has many wars of aggression on its conscience.” Others recalled include Gerard Depardieu, Steven Seagal, Paul McCartney, Jane Fonda. As Ingmar Bergman might say, “We can live in their art, but not in their lives.”
