Hunt For Nation’s 250th B-Day Party 1 Lame Idea Away?

WSJ relates a horror story over how “planners are battling over marking nation’s 250th Anniversary celebration, including allegations of “featherbedding favoritism & misappropriation of taxpayer funds”. Maybe worse, already proposed “events” for 2026 are LAME.

How lame? According to the newspaper, the federal commission charged with planning a shindig is busy looking at a number of proposals, including “an online showcase of attractions such as the Sturgis, SD motorcycle rally and the park in the Compton Ca area where Serena and Venus Williams learned to play tennis … also proposed are a Young People’s Continental Congress and a television cooking show called ‘The Great American Mixing Bowl.’” To cap all that fun, “a National Semiquincentennial Convention [would] assemble ‘delegates from every corner of the USA to engage in constructive dialogue regarding our country’s next 250 years.’” Congress seeded the commission with $30M and the foundation charted to raise more funds for the commission set a goal of $250M, although its having trouble lining up corporate sponsors. Wonder why?

Why not just take Congress’ $30M and give it to Hunter Biden for the purpose of redesigning the American Flag and run it up the WH flag pole on July 4? Then, call it another day?
