Macron In Paris & Let ‘Em Eat Cake Globalism

Netflix’s “Emily In Paris” does a good job of marrying woke tech & corporate marketing, but its portrayal of Chicago Murder Inc. & Immigrant Overrun Paris as 2 big boatloads of fun, fun, fun belie how deluded & deluding premise No. 1 is.
We know all about the spiraling murder rate in my Sweet Home (No Longer Toddlin’) Chicago. In my recent visit to Paris and as I walked the streets I’ve grown to love over the years, I could swear the general atmosphere this time around was more “depressed” than happy-go-lucky. The pandemic mentality certainly contributed. Still the City of Lights with a renown sophisticated if not arrogant citizenry, gone were the many friendly Parisians who would go out of their way to help a stranger. In their place were revolutionary graffiti on even the most famous bridges across the Seine and a burnt-out shell of a Notre Dame Cathedral. Even more strange was the disquieting EMPTINESS of locals in even the most historically beloved palace parks. Some neighborhoods surrounding the city looked more like Beirut.
So, we’re told “centrist” Macron got a second 5-year term by a 58% margin of victory over the Right’s Le Pen who’s crowing about getting 42% of the vote. But, is there really an outward sign of joy let alone unity? Or, as Emily in Paris ignores, is there more of an alarming sense things could get worse? That is, as the country’s deluded woke globalism keeps it & its EU partners following “cake and eat it too” policies that gave it an immigration crisis as bad as America’s, energy dependence on Russia, the Ukraine War … and more streaming shows pushing progressive dogma telling us our eyes are deceiving us & that all’s well on the Seine as well as Sanitary Canal?
