Mary Poppins Rides Into DHS’s DGB Sunset

Good riddance to bad trash talking as Joe’s bizarre “Disinformation Governance Board Is Disavowed” & its self-proclaimed “Mary Poppins of Disinformation” chief sleeks away on bicycle used to peddle … her own rubbish.

The WSJ editors were especially in the trash talking mood: “Quick as she came, the Mary Poppins of Disinformation unfurled here umbrella and floated away to her next job, nannying another nation of children who had the wrong ideas. Nina Jankowicz, age 33, was supposed to lead the Department of Homeland Security’s new Disinformation Governance Board. Only 3 weeks after that announcement …” the board was “paused” and Mary, er, Nina, resigned. The editors recalled her bizarre “Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious” video of herself while making heads spin over her equally bizarre Covid tweets as well as claims “Hunter Biden’s laptop should be seen as ‘a Trump campaign product’”.

But, let’s not pile on Jankowicz when this ridiculous attempt to monitor, measure, whatever Americans’ free speech was the responsibility if not non-brain storm of Pres Joe & DHS Sec. Mayorkas. The DHS quickly claimed the DGB was never intended to “censor” or “police” speech “in any manner” and was not even meant to have “operational capability.” Of course, if you believe that, maybe you believe Mary Poppins was a living person. As the WSJ concluded: “Even if this is true, a board that sounds like a government fact-checker was a lousy idea sure to feed public mistrust … the whole episode has been comedic, other than that the government wasted your tuppence setting up a board that will probably never operate.”
