Master Artist Jesus Answers Atheists’ Eternal Q
Letter to Philippians: Facts are facts & commonsense builds on them for understanding. If true, does “The universe’s beautiful fine-tuning leave atheism facing its biggest question” on how it got created? Is it a Q atheists still can’t answer? Can anything or anyone else?
Ex-atheist Michae Guillen confesses in his Fox op ed he once believed “science was god & the cosmos was a miraculous accident.” But he now posits: “The universe’s numerical profile … tells us something essential about the inner being of the cosmos.” That is, “after decades of careful examination involving increasingly precise astronomical observations, laboratory experiments & theoretical calculations,” by some of the greatest scientific minds on earth, our universe is still not proven to be merely a coincidence. Rather, as British astronomer Sir Fed Hoyle has argued, “A commonsense interpretation of the [painstakingly compiled] facts suggests that a super-intellect has monkeyed with physics … The numbers one calculates from the facts seem to me so overwhelming as to put this conclusion almost beyond question.” Guillen notes, “This startling revelation does not sit well with atheists, who twist themselves into knots trying to defend the belief that everything – life & all – is but a happy accident.” In short, Guillen suggests, science’s invisible “laws of nature” still can’t explain Creation and, ironically, are rather “suppositions,” which atheists have traditionally accused the faithful of defaulting to.
As Guillen asks in conclusion, “So, then, we all now face this burning question screaming for an answer: If our universe is not a coincidence, how do we explain it? He looks at the magnificent universe & perceives not a “throw of the dice, but the hand of a Master Artist.” Could Guillen’s “perception” also be a tying of fact & common sense together? Would a Christian say it’s one possible shorthand expression of “faith” aka trusting in God, especially when life gives us reason to doubt? Didn’t “Master Artist” Jesus remind Peter after sinking when trying to also walk on water, “O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt?”
