Mr. Spaulding Dreams Of Loving The Game Not Preaching 2 Empty Stadium On Empty Promises

A politicized MLB is back & will never be the same. The kneeling pregame crap has come to millionaire players wearing Yogi Bear outfits. And, I will never forget the San Francisco manager preach on national tv how great it was to see the “unity” & “calm” he felt “all over the ball park.” Calm in an empty ballpark, except for the SF & LA players. THAT may be the understatement of the century. More importantly, can’t see how this mere symbolic gesture changes anything in any concrete way. My second thought: “If only this activist in tights were so passionate about black children being murdered in black communities all over America & police of all colors being assassinated by maniacs. But, then, I’m politicizing, aren’t I?

Good by, Mr. Spaulding, why don’t we all just focus on the love of the game? Sadly for me, the earlier “first” game between the Nationals and Yanks in DC was a reminder we haven’t been missing that much cause there’s more important things in life. Not that baseball isn’t still the love of my life. Or, that it wasn’t nice to see once again Yankee Stanton rocket a Scherzer fastball out of Nationals Park. What a thing of beauty.

We need more of that fun. What we don’t need is a masked Dr. Fauci throwing out the ceremonial first pitch and almost hitting himself in the foot. I exaggerate a tad. But, how do you throw a ball from the mound 10 feet or so? Well, how did Fauci once say the coronavirus was no big deal and wearing masks were a waste of time? But, again, enough politics already. We need baseball players to do what they do best, play ball, not preach. Dream on, Mr. Spaulding?
