What’s as ridiculous as the oft-biased Hollywood Oscars "awards" for greatness? Maybe the absurd “Russiagate” Pulitzers “won” by the NY Times & Wa Po that have been debunked by the light of day?
As the Fox op ed noted, the Pulitzers were awarded to those two MSM titans “for deeply sourced, relentlessly reported coverage in the public interest … that [drum roll] dramatically furthered the nation’s understanding of Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election and its connections to the Trump campaign, the president-elect’s transition team and his eventual administration.”
As the Fox editors note, “no such thing happened.” As now documented in Special Counsel Durham’s court filings and other records made public since, the coverage wasn’t “deeply sourced”, except in the sense it was mostly dictated by Never Trumpers & assorted undisclosed sources in what might be construed as the Deep State. The only accurate statement here is that the biased coverage WAS relentless in an effort to “take down the Trump Administration.” Yet, indeed, “four years later, one is struck not only by how irrelevant they are, but how shockingly tinged [they are] with a McCarthyist alarmism of a red under every bed. Two major newspapers that hold themselves up as the pinnacle of press freedom, the ‘truth dies in darkness’ brigade and all that, [in the end we now know] pushed a [simpleton’s] conspiracy theory.”
