RICO is Bad News for Tren de Aragua

Letter to Ephesians: The RICO aka “racketeering law" was meant to target organized crime organizations & has sometimes been overused by prosecutors – but it was high time RICO was applied to massive migrant terrorist groups by Trump Administration.

The State Department’s use of the federal RICO statute against Tren de Aragua & several other migrant gangs spreading throughout the US hardly got mentioned in the MSM, except for a Fox News story. The gangbangers had already been designated as “foreign terrorist organizations.” But, now, the US Attorney for the Southern District of New York says the recently filed RICO case is part of “Operation Take Back America," which it said is a “nationwide initiative that marshals the full resources of the Justice Department to repel the invasion of illegal immigration, achieve the total elimination of cartels and transnational criminal organizations, and protect our communities from the perpetrators of violent crime.”

To be sure, using the RICO statute to fight any organized crime is a long legal haul. The accused will have ample money to hire an army of defense lawyers and progressive politicians & other allies will beat the PR drum in their support. Yet, they should take heed of how effective the RICO prosecutions have been against mafia chieftains in the past. Let’s hope Operation Take Back America is as successful via this additional weapon in Uncle Sam’s arsenal.
