Save SAVE ACT to Save USA or USA’s Soul?

Letter to Romans: Some legal experts are urging VP Vance to “step in & replace” Senate majority leader Thune as the body’s presiding officer since he’s widely seen as ineffective in getting the SAVE Act passed. It may be his "Constitutional right" but would it work & be wise?
The whole premise of such a VP Senate coup, put forth most recently by highly-regarded George Washington Law School Prof Jonathan Turley, is based upon the assumption JD Vance would have the cajónes to force a vote in the GOP-controlled Senate and that a simple majority of Senators would pass the “proof of ID & citizenship” bill before the upcoming mid-term congressional elections. Yet, it’s not clear that such a simple majority would be there for the suggested kill shot … after all, that’s been one of Thune’s excuses for not forcing the issue as demanded. AND, it’s not clear JD Vance would do so, even if his newly-claimed power was constitutional, which it most likely is.
Perhaps the biggest sticking point, however, is the old saw of “watching what you wish for.” If the GOP can take the “nuclear option” on the SAVE Act, it would set a dangerous precedent greasing the way for the leftist Democrats to do the same as soon as they gain a future majority. It could, then, excuse THEIR nuclear options on this and other key issues, like ending the Senate’s traditional power leveling filibuster rule; or the goofy idea many Democrat leaders have of packing the Supreme Court so they can get enough liberal Justices to rubber stamp their socialist agenda. Of course, future power-grabbing Democrats may do so in the future regardless. For that sad reason only, I’d say, “go for it, GOP, that is, if JD is willing too … but do so with eyes wide open for the precedent you’d be responsible for inevitably setting.
