SNAP Out of Generational Welfare Dependency

Letter to Romans: The SNAP meltdown isn’t due just to the federal shutdown, but because of how welfare has been warped into a crippling generational dependency. Jesus fed thousands twice, but not forever; at least, not until the End of Times.

Put another way, our Father in Heaven since Creation, not the US Government, promised to take care of us spiritually from cradle to grave … Uncle Sam was conceived by our Founding Fathers to help us along the way, but Father Abraham (Lincoln) reminded us how it’s every citizen’ duty to primarily take care of oneself and family, while it’s government’s job “to do for people what they need but cannot do for themselves”.

I was a young boy growing up on the South Side of Chicago when the seeds of today’s “Welfare State” were conceived as a “Safety Net” for folks in trouble. Coming from a working-class family, we were all glad at how it spoke to Everyman’s fundamental urge to maintain one’s dignity in this miserable life. Decades later, we’re thrilled to see millions of inner-city folk have worked their way up the ladder to the American Dream. Yet, us Baby Boomers are also looking on in sadness as millions stay mired in the welfare check, SNAPs, endless unemployment insurance & subsidized ObamaCare coverage that have taken away, not helped, many of the recipients’ DIGNITY. What’s worse, is we see how naïve progressivism warped the Safety Net many of us benefited from over the years by expanding it to able-bodied, even middle-class folks, who don’t need it. The resulting GENERATIONAL DEPENDENCY AND cyclical VOTER BRIBERY needs to stop of course or else the whole bankrupt system folds. Blessed God, King of the Universe, it’s that needed reform we pray for now.
