Time to End Medicaid for Martian Men?

GOP helped blow up the Medicaid financing formula by letting Dems get away with giving the expensive health care benefit to able-bodied, working-age men who sit on their butts & not mostly poor children & pregnant women. Chance for Republicans in Congress to redeem party?

Don’t hold your breath just yet, even though the GOP has a House majority, albeit a small one. As the WSJ’s editorial board noted: “The GOP hasn’t yet rolled out a draft Medicaid bill, but Democrats & their media allies are already pounding Republicans for snatching healthcare from millions.” As the editors go on to opine, Republicans would be making a “terrible blunder” if they cave to that progressive PR campaign because this may be the last chance to FIX THE PROGRAM. And, of course, “winding down ‘free’ federal money for able-bodied men on Medicaid, is one of the keys.

Ask California that foolishly went even further in expanding Medicaid to undocumented immigrants, whether from South of the Border or from Mars. As the WSJ concluded, the original mission of Medicaid was to help poor US citizens, not the world let alone universe; because it’s hard if not impossible to afford even that much home team welfare.
