Trump Ditches DC Hotel & Grief It Gave Him

AP reports Trump finally sold his Washington hotel to Miami investors, incl ex-Yankee A-Rod, so it’s good-bye to all the grief it brought No. 45 & the $45 Scotches on the Rocks I once paid for just to also pretend I was a Swamp insider.

Having worked on some of the PR before, during & after Mr. Trump’s purchase via long term lease of that iconic Post Office Tower that turned out to be an albatross, it being just yards away from the FBI & DOJ offices that hounded him during his presidency … I’m one who makes no bones about saying, “Good riddance to bad rubbish.” Not because I once paid the over-priced piper for those Scotches, but because the subversive bureaucratic push back Mr. Trump had to endure while the owner was too much like the controversy over his Tweets: Unneeded distractions from the important work of running the country between 2016 and 2020. Disputes over taxes & rent; accusations of corruption as foreigners, pols & lobbyists stayed at the hotel; & progressive protesters forever threatened to torch the edifice …

Anonymous (what else?) sources say the price for dumping the hotel was “$375M” and, if accurate, it is “handing the Trump family business perhaps as much as $100 million in profit.” Big deal. As the AP also notes, “the hotel lost more than $70 million the four years of the Trump presidency.” Even charging $45 for my Scotches didn’t help the bottom line much then …
