Was Real 2020 Rigged Election Story About Russia?

Letter to Romans: Did Trump & his critics whistle past the truth of 2020’s “rigged” election? The latter especially seem to forget how “51 intel experts” swore Hunter Biden’s laptop was faked so why should they (& MSM) now admit the past presidential election was rigged?

As the WSJ’s Holman Jenkins wrote in the wake of No. 47’s recent Address to the Nation on election security, “Our elections are messy, there’s foreign influence – but the 51 laptop liars were unique in US history.” The columnist, of course, was calling out the MSM & warning folks to have “no expectation the press will now disinterestedly examine the documents Mr. Trump released after his speech … pointing to alleged Chinese interference in the 2020 election.” He explained: “Mr. Trump missed an opportunity himself by not mentioning the one complaint in which he stands on unimpeachable ground: The Hunter Biden laptop hoax.” Holman opines there’s a reason Americans for over 6 years seldom if ever read anything in the op eds of major papers or networks the obvious truth about that hoax. Recall, he urges, how “Joe Biden’s own Justice Department would later say in court that the claim by 51 former intelligence officials that Russia was behind the laptop was a ‘conspiracy theory with no supporting evidence.’”

The devil, Holman argues, was in the details: “The naked-eye truth was the opposite of what the 51 claimed. The laptop had none of the ‘classic earmarks’ of a Russian intelligence operation. It would have been embarrassing for them even to be confronted for saying so if anyone bothered to confront them. But their bet proved good.” With the MSM’s blind folds on, Trump would continue to be tagged with “Russia, Russia, Russia collusion” accusations while a declining Biden would be left smelling like a rose in his basement bunker. Holman even suggests a quid pro quo: In return for not publicly challenging the hoax, Russia’s Putin would be free to invade Ukraine with a wink from Biden. He didn’t and he did.
