Blessed Are the Lilies of the Field

Why can’t we “Be perfect” as the wildflowers since Jesus urged us to achieve nothing short of “The Father” Himself? A miracle is needed? Or maybe the enabling Grace has already been handed us through His mighty sacrifice & magnificent resurrection …

As Matthew related the Messiah’s reassuring words on the Mount: “Consider how the lilies of the field grow; they do not toil nor do they spin, yet I say to you that not even Solomon in all his glory clothed himself like one of these. But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which is alive today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will He not much more clothe you? Oh, you of little faith! Do not worry then, asking, ‘What will we eat?’ Or ‘What will we drink?’ Or ‘What will we wear?’ For the non-believers eagerly seek all these things, yet your heavenly Father knows that you need them. Rather, seek first His Kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.”

Maybe it all comes down to that almost hidden reference above to “Faith.” Wasn’t that the ingredient most often cited by Jesus as the key to unlocking His healing miracles when among us, including moving no less than mountains? He lived, died and rose again to show as well as tell us once again, “Rest assured … You are Our Wildflowers and We have lovingly given the last full measure of devotion so that you, too, CAN brighten the world … as We did and do always.”
