Illegal Alien A “Slave” by Any Other Name?

Letter to Ephesians: Broaddrick posted that no one today “hires an illegal alien out of the goodness of their heart [but] to work them harder, pay them less & undercut the competition.” If so (and it usually is), what’s the difference between 2025’s businesses & 1860’s slave owners?
Maybe not that much? In both instances per most historical accounts, the Southern slave owners and our entrepreneurs largely try to justify their “employer” roles by suggesting they were/are doing their victims a favor. Under the slavers’ “peculiar institution” their moral largess consisted of giving their “workers” a (shanty) roof over their heads & enough food to live on, in return for 12–18-hour workdays on their plantations. Under today’s capitalist OR Marxist system, migrants & especially illegal aliens don’t fare that much better at the hands of their real time masters; the key difference of course being that our illegals can move themselves & families about from one job to starve at another.
Well, that may be “freedom” in some folks’ eyes, but I’d suggest that life under either “kind” of “employer” was/is unbearable by any commonsense standard.
