Can Baldwin The SNL Man Stand For Manslaughter?

No surprise NM’s DA says criminal charges are “on the table” in light of details emerging about possible negligent or reckless conduct by Alec Baldwin’s crew while shooting “Rust”. The big question is who exactly might be legally hanged aka charged?

You’ll recall last week Baldwin was rehearsing a scene at a Santa Fe ranch and discharged a firearm he was told was “cold” or “unloaded”. Whatever was in that gun, however, struck and killed cinematographer Halyna Hutchins who was standing nearby a camera the actor was apparently shooting at for dramatic effect. Meanwhile, subsequent reports suggest an “enormous amount of bullets” and firearms were on the set. And, according to Fox News, some unconfirmed reports maintain crew members used the weapons for leisure shooting in the hours before the incident.” How the bullet or projectile got into the gun ... or, why the gun wasn't checked one last time before usage ... is still not clear.

Famed criminal defense lawyer, Mark Geragos, told Fox: “Baldwin is presumably in charge because he’s the producer and has a great voice on the budget here. I guarantee you they’re also looking at whether or not people were shaving money or trying to cut costs and [whether] this is one of the results of that.” Geragos added: “I would be shocked if there wasn’t an involuntary manslaughter charge brought in this case”.
