Did Founding Fathers Dream of Meany Trump?

Letter to Ephesians: The disloyal opposition aka anti-Trumpers, esp in the MSM, fight not only a losing but futile battle as the voters keep saying, “This is what I voted for.” That blindness to the ultimate nonpartisan’s genius as envisioned in our constitution is a gift that keeps giving him an upper hand.
That pretty well sums WSJ’s Holman Jenkins’ recent column in which he warns the die-hard partisans among us: The MSM’s & Democrats’ “reflexively delegitimatizing every Trump action [e.g., “obliterating” Iran’s quest for an A-bomb to destroy America & Israel] isn’t helpful and isn’t journalism.” Nor is it advancing the DNC’s electoral prospects. That’s because, Jenkins argues, “Whatever his failings, voters have made the most informed choice in my lifetime. Mr. Trump already served once. Voters then had four years to think it over. He’s been a noisy presence in public life for 40 years. He also exposes his inner monologue to voters like no president in history and flaunts an almost uniquely nonideological, nonpartisan flexibility in both goals & methods.”
In other words, the columnist marvels, Donald J. Trump is exactly what the Founding Fathers dreamed of in a president & their desire to achieve a real world “checks and balances” in the federal government they were creating from scratch. What’s missing today, Jenkins concludes, is a “productive and functioning opposition – i.e., an opposition with the confidence and self-possession to support as well as to oppose, to horse-trade and even to share credit ...” with their tormentor.
