“Milwaukee Dancing Grannies” were among 5 killed when a SUV plowed over them & into a marching band while performing for the Waukesha Christmas Parade crowd whose cheers turned to horrific screams. 48 others, including 18 school children, were injured allegedly by a serial felon whom prosecutors had released on low bail pending multiple court proceedings but will now charge with murder.
The suspect from nearby Milwaukee is Darrell Brooks who has a long history of violent behavior & was out first thanks to a low $500 bail stemming from 2020 & involving domestic abuse, reckless endangerment of others, resisting arrest & for being a felon in possession of a firearm perhaps used to shoot at a relative. Earlier this month, he was again charged with another reckless endangering count, felony bail jumping, battery, obstructing an officer & disorderly conduct. Said Fox: “He allegedly ran a woman over with what may have been the same SUV that wreaked havoc on the Christmas parade. He had been released on [another] $1K cash bail on Nov. 11.” Police say he was fleeing yet another “domestic violence scene” when he “intentionally” drove his SUV into the victims. Still again, in 2006 he was convicted in Nevada for having consensual sex with a minor & is still wanted there for subsequently not obeying the state’s sex offender laws & jumping bail in 2016.
As a result, the Milwaukee DA’s office is conducting an internal review into its own leniency in what was conceded to be “inappropriate” under the circumstances. It appears Brooks’ bail had at one time been set at $10K for those 2020 charges, then, reduced it to $7.5K, then, reset again to $500 to avoid violating his right to a speedy trial. But, tell that to the grieving Waukesha families …
