How refreshing to see Fox’s “NBA player Enes Kanter on his legal name change to include ‘Freedom’ after becoming an American citizen” ... as most in the NBA are too gutless to stand up to the PRC’s putrid human rights record.
As might be recalled, Mr. Enes, now named “Enes Kanter Freedom,” is a Turk who has been an outspoken critic of what he calls Turkey’s “authoritarian regime” and has run into a Communist version of the USA’s cancel culture after wondering out loud about the NBA’s hypocrisy in staying silent on alleged Chinese slave labor abuses. Having emigrated to the U.S., Kanter Freedom spent six “rough” years working towards naturalization. “I think it was a dream come true,” he said. “I was like wow I cannot believe I’m finally gonna call somewhere my home. So, that definitely meant so much to me, you guys have no idea.”
Kanter Freedom told Fox a story “in which one of his teammates criticized then-President Obama in 2009. Unaware of the freedoms intrinsic to America, he feared that his teammate would be thrown in jail for his comments … His teammate laughed.” Concluded the new American citizen: “Freedom meant so much to me [too]. I wanted to make that word part of me because obviously in America you have freedom of speech, religion, expression and press.”
